
OUR STORY
IRIAN JAYA Wild Fishing was born from our endless passion for fishing and traveling over The wildest part of INDONESIA, especially The Malukus Islands and Western Papua.
Specialized since 2008 in Saltwater GT fishing.
Olivier Helloco was a young explorer who have been the first to fish through a number of areas over Irian Jaya.
All started with a first exploration in Biak, to the Padaido Archipelago. Saltwater fishing for Gts, red bass, Dogtooth tunas.
Then in 2012, after a long trek in Yapen, he did try to cast spinner bait in freshwater in a mountain lake, and at the first hit, understood that a new passion was born for the mighty Papuan bass.
Today He owns more than 22 years of experience in exploring Indonesia and new places in Western Papua.
He started to travel and explore at 20 years old and this built up a great experience in terms of fishing experience, and situation management. In the past years, he ran more than 75 different big exploratory expeditions all over Indonesia.
In Irian Jaya we Speak Indonesia, but also 325 different dialects, and we still need to register our guests before each trip.
We have friends in every tribes we encounter during our fishing trips, and usually buy prawns, crabs, and some traditionnal artefacts.
Tribes like the Asmat are (were) head hunters and their culture is still alive !
We focus on offering passionate anglers the chance to fish some of the last earthly paradises.
IRIAN JAYA Wild Fishing gives the unique opportunity to his guests to discover Western Papua and it’ s an unique Cultural experience.

- We do not fish for immediate consumption as fish are always returned in excellent condition, but you can keep one for dinner, and we really know how to cook it !
